SAMRO Foundation - Investing in the Arts since 1962 The SAMRO FOUNDATION is involved in outreach programmes and sponsorship of the arts. The main objective is to create and maintain an environment in which the arts in South Africa may flourish. This includes giving broad support to composers, musicians, and arts organizations in South Africa. The SAMRO Foundation has funded the biennial SAJE Jazz Festival since 2009 and the biennial SAJE Jazz Conference since 1992 http://www.samrofoundation.org.za/
SAJE is funded by the National Lotteries Commission (NLC) The NLC relies on funds from the proceeds of the National Lottery. The Lotteries Act guides the way in which NLC funding may be allocated. The intention of NLC funding is to make a difference to the lives of all South Africans, especially those more vulnerable and to improve the sustainability of the beneficiary organisations. Available funds are distributed to registered and qualifying non-profit organisations in the fields of charities; arts, culture and national heritage; and sport and recreation. By placing its emphasis on areas of greatest need and potential, the NLC contributes to South Africa’s development. *The NLC has funded two SAJE projects: the Sisters in Sound Mentorship Project (2016) and the Outreach Workshop Project (2016-2017) as well as the 2016 SAJE Jazz Conference in Johannesburg. www.nlcsa.org.za/
